Candy Cane

The Candy Cane Coral (Caulastrea) — also known as the Trumpet Coral — is one of the best beginner LPS corals, period. Each branch ends in a glowing, striped polyp head that puffs up like a cushion by day, and colonies multiply reliably as heads split in two. Candy Canes tolerate a wide range of conditions, preferring moderate light and gentle-to-moderate flow, and their very short sweeper tentacles make them far more peaceful than most stony corals. Target-feed the heads with mysis or pellets to accelerate branching.
