Chalice

Chalice corals (Echinophyllia and friends) are living gemstones — encrusting plates airbrushed in paint-splatter combinations of pink, orange, blue, and metallic marbling that collectors chase relentlessly. They're surprisingly undemanding: low-to-moderate light and gentle flow keep colors rich (intense light can wash them out), and they encrust steadily across plugs and rockwork. Chalices are aggressive feeders at night — drop in meaty foods after lights-out for faster growth — and they can extend sweeper tentacles, so leave space between them and neighboring colonies.
